Lionel Messi
Argentinian football superstar Lionel Messi is set to make a move to a Saudi Arabian club for the next football season, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.
The deal is said to be "huge" and "exceptional," with only a few minor details remaining to be finalised. Although the identity of the club remains undisclosed, Messi's current team Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that the player is still under contract until the end of June.
The 35-year-old football legend was recently suspended by PSG for visiting Saudi Arabia without the club's permission, where he is serving as a tourism ambassador.
With his arrival in the oil-rich kingdom, Messi follows in the footsteps of his long-standing rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr earlier this year for a deal estimated at over 400 million euros ($439million), which reportedly makes him the world's highest-paid athlete.
