Meta Launches Paid Verification Programme In US

Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta's premium verification service is now accessible in the US.

Individuals who enrol in Meta Verified are expected to receive a blue verification label on Facebook and Instagram, "proactive impersonation protection," and immediate access to customer assistance, according to Zuckerberg.

To cover the in-app payment fees taken from those platforms, joining Meta Verified via the web costs $12 per month and joining via iOS or Android costs $15 per month.

Together with bonus stickers for Stories and Reels, users will receive a few stars each month that you can use to tip Facebook creators.

Verified subscribers in the US won't yet benefit from greater exposure in some areas of the applications, in contrast to Australia and New Zealand.

"We heard feedback that how this piece of the offering worked was causing confusion, so we’re taking the time to further explore its value and learn before we consider expanding this component outside Australia and New Zealand," a Meta spokesperson told Engadget.

Although it continues to test the programme, the business says it will consider adding other capabilities to Verified.

The show had its premiere last month in Australia and New Zealand thanks to Meta. Instagram and Facebook users must give Meta a piece of government ID that matches the name and photo on their account in order to utilise Verified, which differentiates from Twitter Blue, through which people may pay for a blue check mark and other privileges. In addition, they must be 18 years old or older and have two-factor authentication turned on in order to qualify.

Subscribers who have already been verified by Meta aren't allowed to modify their username, date of birth, or profile name without agreeing to go through the verification procedure once more.

Any well-known Facebook or Instagram account that has been verified in the past will retain their blue check.
