Microsoft Teams Introduces Timer For Virtual Breakout Rooms

Microsoft Teams Introduces Timer For Virtual Breakout Rooms

Microsoft Teams has announced its intention of working on a new set of admin options for managing Breakout Rooms in the app. The company introduced new virtual Breakout rooms features on the desktop last year along with other improvements such as Together mode scenes, custom backgrounds, and more.

According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, Microsoft Teams will be adding a timer option in the Breakout Room settings that will allow meeting organisers to set the time limit for each room. When the timer duration expires, the breakout room will close automatically and all the participants will return to the main meeting.

The app is adding room assignment retention settings to retain the room configuration and assignment over various brainstorming sessions. Microsoft is also bringing in the ability for organisers to move participants across rooms and main meetings when breakout rooms are open.

Also, Team meetings will get a new bypass lobby option. This option will make it compulsory for attendees to bypass the meeting lobby rather than jumping into an ongoing meeting.

These new updates will be rolled out gradually to users later this month. Other improvements being planned for Teams include the ability to pause video recordings, an Out of Office message scheduling option and Walkie Talkie features for iOS.
