The Nigerian Military has recorded success in eliminating 82 terrorists in Zamfara State.
The terrorists were bombarded through airstrikes when they came to unleash mayhem at Rafin Dankura of Bakura local government area in the state.
This was disclosed in a press conference at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Benard Onyeuko.
Onyeuko explained that troops of Operation Hadarin Daji responded to a distress call that the terrorists were trying to abduct people, which led to the killing of 82 of them.
He added that the terrorists who grouped themselves and numbered over 150 planned to attack Kofar Danya village Bukkuyum local government area of the state.
He added that the Nigerian Air Force engaged the terrorists through airstrikes that neutralised many of them.
“Consequently, credible feedback from the locals around Kofar Danya disclosed that over 82 of the terrorists suffered heavy casualties as many of them were neutralised while others sustained various degrees of injuries."
Items recovered during the operation include two AK 47 rifles, one 36 hand grenade, two mobile phones and the sum of N211,915 while rescuing six civilians that were kidnapped.
