Military chief, nine other soldiers die in helicopter crash

The Chief of the Kenya Armed Forces, General Francis Ogolla, and nine other military representatives have been announced dead after a helicopter crash.

This sad development was revealed by the Kenyan President, William Ruto at a news conference on Thursday. He subsequently announced three days of national mourning.

Report confirmed that the crash occured in the west of the country in the Elgeyo Marakwet district, shortly after taking off from the village of Chesegon.

The high-ranking military delegation has been visiting Kenyan soldiers in the region.

The cause of the crash was initially unclear as at the time this report was filed. Two of the 12 people on board survived.
