Delta State Government, in agreement with Labour Congress, is set to commence payment of the new national minimum wage of N30,000 for workers in the state from January 2020.
This was disclosed on Friday, January 10, 2020, by the Chairman of the Negotiation Committee and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Chiedu Ebie, after signing the minimum wage documents on behalf of the state government.
Ebie said that the government will commence payment of the new minimum wages from January and will include payment of arrears from November 1, 2019.
In a statement, the SSG went on to appreciate the civil servants and gave them the assurance that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa would continue to make the welfare of the state workers a priority and urges the workers to in return, redouble their commitment to their duty.

Ebie also thanked both the government and labour team for their resilience all through the process.
In his response, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Delta, Goodluck Ofobruku, commend the state government for its transparency during the negotiation exercise.
