Minister In Germany Commits Suicide Over 'Deep Worries' Of C

Germany's Hesse state Finance Minister, Thomas Schaefer, has reportedly committed suicide after he became "deeply worried" about the economic impact of the novel coronavirus, this is according to the state premier, Volker Bouffier.

Thomas was 54, and his body was discovered near a railway track this Saturday. The death was ruled as a suicide case by the Wiesbaden prosecution office.

Bouffier said, “We are in shock, we are in disbelief and above all, we are immensely sad.”

He added that Thomas had presided as chief of Hesse finance department for over 10 years, and toiled "day and night" to assist both workers and organizations get a good grip on the effects of the virus outbreak.

“Today we have to assume that he was deeply worried.

“It’s precise during this difficult time that we would have needed someone like him.”

He left behind his wife and two kids.
