Confusion erupted in the Ministry of Works on Thursday morning as workers were locked out by the Minister, Dave Umahi.
According to reports, the minister barred late-arriving employees from entering the ministry.
After the gate was unlocked, the employees of the Housing and Works Ministry, however, resisted going into the building.
Instead, they occupied the front gate and demanded that the minister appear before them.
They further alleged that he hired consultants to manage the ministry's activities, in violation of public service norms, and prevented engineers and directors from carrying out their duties.
The protesting personnel bemoaned that they lived far away and had no way of arriving at the office early while chanting "Umahi Must Go".
