Ministry Overseeing N-Power Accused Of Misusing Funds

Ministry Overseeing N-Power Accused Of Misusing Funds

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq has been criticised for using a jet to fly over Kainji Dam after the water bank was flooded. Farouq was condemned by Nigerians and was told that she's wasting public funds when some N-Power beneficiaries haven't been paid.

The official Twitter handle if the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry posted some images of Farouq conducting aerial view assessment of the Kainji dam to inspect the impact of flooded banks, rather than using other resources that could have made the assessment more efficient.

Many reactions to the post stated that it was impossible for her to be able to grasp the impact of the flooded bank from the level of the jet. The exercise was tagged as a waste of public funds that could have been avoided if she used drones or stream gauges.

Farouq was asked if she had never heard of drones. In a tweet from one of the reactions, @BSalahudden said, "Hope she knows there are Npower beneficiaries she still owes five months stipends whom are victims of the natural disaster and her own caused disaster. She should do the needful please."

Another Twitter @akada_k tweeted, "Please madam, pay #npower Batch B balance stipends, forget about the Tablet which never came, include it to that of incoming Batch C. We're still waiting for what your ministry holds for us as regards the Transition Process. You can employ me to fast track thing's been done."

Another user, @am_audu stated, "This is so embarrassing with the level of cheaper technology, why flying a private jet to get an aerial view. please take it down."

Meanwhile, Wisdom Ikenna tweeted, "Why not have a drone fly over there and take the necessary records and assessments, rather than having to fuel the aircraft, fly over there and still have to pay for a formal assessment over the area by trained personnels. Double billing."
