Misleading News About Release Of N-Power Batch C List (FACT CHECK)

Misleading News About Release Of N-Power Batch C List (FACT

A blog, The Will, is claiming that authorities in Nigeria have released the shortlisted candidates for N-Power Batch C.

N-Power is the job creation and economic component of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIPs) of the Federal Government of Nigeria, for young unemployed Nigerians.

The blog said the announcement about N-Power Batch C was "made in a statement issued by the National Social Investment Management System (NASIMS) on its website on Monday".

AllNews fact-checks this claim.

Deployment status of N-Power Batch C applicants

First of all, no such announcement about release of N-Power Batch C list was made on NASIMS' website on Monday.

Secondly, N-Power Batch C applicants have neither been posted nor deployed to any Place of Primary Assignment (PPA). NASIMS asked candidates to check back for the deployment information "after deployment date has been set". The date, AllNews can authoritatively report, has not been set.

What stage is N-Power Batch C recruitment?

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development had said that no fewer than 550,000 out of the 1.8 million Batch C applicants have been selected for the final stage of N-Power.

Sadiya Farouq, the Minister, Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development made this known at a press briefing about two momths ago in Abuja.

Farouq had said on March 11 that the ministry launched the NASIMS for the Batch C applicants.

According to her, the applicants were requested to update their personal information and subsequently, take an online test via the NASIMS Portal. Now, the online test stage is over.

“By the third week of May 2021, over 1.8 million Nigerians successfully updated their records and took the compulsory online test.

“Further screening was undertaken and a shortlist of 550,000 applicants qualified for the final selection to engage 500,000 nationwide to serve as the first stream of the N-Power Batch C programme.

“This is the Batch C 1. The second batch of another 500,000 will subsequently be made in line with Mr President’s directive to engage 1,000,000 beneficiaries under the Batch C.

“The 550,000 short-listed applicants are being individually contacted via their e-mail addresses provided and are first advised to check and then immediately log-on to the NASIMS self-service portal and enrol their biometric data to qualify for final selection,” she had said.
