Moghalu Demands Sowore’s Release

Moghalu Demands Sowore’s Release

The former presidential candidate under the platform of the Youth Progressive Party (YPP) in the 2019 general elections, Kingsley Moghalu has taken to his Twitter handle to condemn the reported arrest of Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters.

AllNews had reported that Omoyele Sowore, alongside other activists were arrested by men of the Nigeria Police for staging a peaceful protest in Abuja on New Year's eve day.

This online news medium understands that Sowore had earlier posted on his Twitter page, calling on Individuals who are interested and willing to participate to join a protest in Abuja against President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

Reacting to the news of the arrest of Sowore on Saturday, Moghalu asked the government to release him immediately, adding that engaging in protest is his right as a Nigerian.

Moghalu wrote on his Twitter page, “I am deeply concerned about the reported arrest of @YeleSowore, for no apparent reason other than engaging in a public protest that is his right as a Nigerian citizen.

“Sowore is an active citizen, and Nigeria should not squash voices of dissent. I strongly demand his release.”
