Tunji Balogun, also known as Tee Billz, a prominent music executive and the ex-husband of Tiwa Savage, has issued a heartfelt apology to Nigerians regarding his previous support for the embattled artistes, Zinoleesky and Naira Marley.
Naira Marley has been under heavy fire after he was accused of having a hand in the sudden death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, aka Mohbad.
Despite denying the allegations, songs by the Marlian Music boss and his record label artistes have been taken off the playlists of many Nigerian media houses.
In a post on his Instagram page, Tee Billz expressed deep regret for the insensitivity of his earlier post, emphasising that he did not intend to undermine anyone’s feelings or opinions.
He admitted that his intention was to extend help to Zinoleesky rather than pass judgment based on associations and environmental factors.
Tee Billz also highlighted the significant role that mental health plays in an individual’s life, citing its impact on Mohbad, especially during his final days.
He emphasised that mental health concerns should not be disregarded, regardless of whether one agrees with him or not.
Tee Billz also recognized that Zinoleesky was currently experiencing the same challenges.
In addition to his apology to Zinoleesky, Tee Billz expressed empathy for the embattled singer Solid Star, who is reportedly battling mental illness.
He conveyed his heartfelt support for Solid Star, acknowledging the singer’s struggles.
Tee Billz’s apology comes after he had initially stirred controversy and anger among his colleagues for advocating against cancel culture and expressing support for both Zinoleesky and Naira Marley.
He defended his stance, emphasising that he believed in educating individuals rather than cancelling them and recognizing that we are all works in progress.
Tee Billz praised Naira Marley for his talent and contributions to the music industry while addressing the issue of guilt by association.
He concluded his apology by expressing hope that people would forgive his shortcomings and praying for a second chance to lead and influence positively.
