The appointment of Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem as the President of the Court of Appeal has been approved.
Dongban-Mensem was confirmed after the presentation of a report by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele regarding the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.
Her appointment met no opposition, according to Bamidele.
He tweeted, “The nominee is a fit and proper person for appointment as the President of the Court of Appeal. The Committee recommends that the Senate do confirm the nomination of Hon. Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem as Honourable President of the Court of Appeal."

Dongban-Mensem has been commended by Senator Ike Ekweramdu on her nomination, saying, “This is because Justice Mendem is succeeding a woman who served and retired in the same capacity.”
He has urged her to actively contribute to the reformation that is much needed in the Nigerian judicial system, especially on electoral issues.
