Mourinho Hit With Ban Over Antics At Europa League Final

Mourinho Hit With Ban Over Antics At Europa League Final

Jose Mourinho has been hit with a four-match touchline suspension for launching a scathing rant at Anthony Taylor after the Europa League final.

The Special One had an open confrontation with referee Taylor over his Roma side 4-1 loss on penalties after a feisty 1-1 draw during the regulation and extra time.

He felt that his side lost the final because of a number of decisions made by referee Taylor and even went as far as ambushing Taylor in the Puskas Arena car park as the match officials made their way to their minibus transport and branded him a "fucking disgrace."

The Portuguese was caught on camera saying: "What a disgrace. What a disgrace.

"You are a fucking disgrace! You are shameless."

He also insinuated that Taylor and his PGMOL colleagues had “seemed Spanish.”

However, UEFA chiefs described his behaviour as "violent" and "vehemently condemned" the foul-mouthed tirade directed towards Taylor and his family at the airport, adding "such actions are unacceptable and undermine the spirit of fair play and respect that Uefa upholds."

The Premier League and referees' body PGMOL equally added their voices saying they were "appalled" at the abuse of Taylor and his family, with Premier League adding: "No-one should have to suffer the inexcusable behaviour they had to endure."

The suspension means Mourinho will miss the club's start to their Europa League campaign next season after finishing sixth in Serie A.
