Jose Mourinho cries
AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho is in hot water after his fiery reaction during their match against Cremonese. The Italian sports judge has handed Mourinho a two-game ban and a €10 000 fine for his actions on the field.
Cremonese secured their first Serie A win this season, beating Roma 2-1, leaving Mourinho's team out of the Champions League places, and fifth in the standings.
Things turned sour for the Portuguese coach at the start of the second half, as referee Marco Piccinini sent him off for dissent.
Mourinho later revealed that his reaction was due to his mistreatment by the fourth official.
He even mentioned seeking legal advice on the matter.
However, the Serie A statement cited Mourinho for "vehemently and provocatively contested a referee's decision in the second half, and repeating such behaviour at the time of the expulsion."
The statement also added that he entered the referee's dressing room and made seriously offensive expressions and inferences to the fourth official.
As a result, Mourinho will miss Roma's home league games against Juventus on Sunday and Sassuolo on 12 March with a fine.
Mourinho's absence will undoubtedly be a significant loss for Roma as they fight to secure a spot in the Champions League.
Currently, they are fifth in the table with 44 points, just one point behind Lazio, who are in fourth place.
Mourinho's ban is likely to add further pressure on the team as they try to keep up with their rivals in the remaining games of the season.
