Renowned Nigerian singer and one-half of the P-Square musical duo, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has expressed strong disapproval of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) decision to deploy its standby force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger.
In a tweet, Mr P described the move as ‘total madness’.
The announcement of ECOWAS’ decision came after President Omar Alieu Touray presented the resolution of the subregional body’s extraordinary meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
The resolve to utilize the standby force was met with mixed reactions, with Mr P joining the critics.
Taking to his verified Twitter account, Mr P condemned the decision and accused ECOWAS of aligning with the West in a fight against fellow Africans.
He wrote, “Africa joins the West to fight Africa. Total madness.”
