'Yakubu': Falz, Vector Diss INEC Chairman In New Single

In his latest single titled ‘Yakubu’, popular Nigerian rapper Falz is not mincing his words as he calls out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, for his alleged involvement in electoral malpractice during the recently concluded presidential, gubernatorial, national assembly and state assembly elections in Nigeria.

The song features fellow rapper Vector and is a scathing commentary on the election process in the country, which has been widely criticized by both international and local observers.

In the song, Falz accuses Yakubu of being a fraudster who doesn't want the country to prosper.

He also tackles corrupt political parties who were allegedly involved in the malpractices that marred the elections.

Vector, on his part, focuses on the shortcomings of the electoral process and the role of the court in adjudicating disputes.

The video for the song, which was co-directed by Falz and Oye 2.0, portrays the frustration of Nigerians who have been denied their constitutional right to vote due to the irregularities that characterized the elections.

The song is already gaining traction on social media, with many Nigerians hailing Falz and Vector for using their platform to speak out against injustice and corruption in the country's electoral system.

Falz’s second official single of 2023, ‘Yabuku’ is a follow-up to the previously released, Tekno-assisted song ‘Owa’.
