MTN Nigeria Debunks Rumor Of Impending Workers Strike

MTN Nigeria has debunked the rumor of an impending workers strike purportedly circulated by the Private Telecommunications and Communications Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PTCSSAN).

Responding to multiple media inquiries about this planned industrial action intended to disrupt the national communication services of the company, the telecommunication giant stated that it has not received any such planned threats from the union and that any such threats are mere rumors.

MTN assured everybody that it remains committed to engaging with representatives of the PTCSSAN to address any of its concerns via established channels.

MTN Nigeria’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Esther Akinnukawe, while speaking on the matter, reiterated the company’s people focus, stating that the company has over the past two decades built a "people first" culture that values diversity, inclusivity, and hard work.

She also re-emphasized the fact that the company will continue to be dedicated to employing employees and instilling in them a responsibility for their customers and host communities.

She stated that at MTN, all employees are at liberty to exercise their right to free association.

Uto Ukpanah, the company secretary, also re-emphasized the company’s unequivocal commitment to workers’ welfare and reassured them that if there is any area of concern, the company will explore all available channels to resolve it.
