The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, on Tuesday in Abuja announced that telecommunication and mobile network company (MTN) will be investing the sum of 1.6 billion dollars in the Nigerian market for the next three years.
This was contained in a statement signed by Director Press and Public Relations Mrs. Phil Oshodin.
Pantami stated that the federal government is also making great efforts at providing good and favourable economic balance for all telecommunication companies who are running businesses in the country.
The Minister further assured of President Muhammad Buhari's support on security for all telecommunications infrastructure in different parts of the country.
“I am glad to hear that you have a budget of 1.6 billion you plan to invest in Nigeria in the next three years.
“Please, try to get your priorities right. Look at the areas that are undeserved and invest.
“I am happy that you also appreciated our modest efforts in addressing most of the challenges being faced by mobile Telecommunications firms in Nigeria. I believe every County has its own peculiar challenge.
“We have achieved a lot in addressing most of the challenges: issues of vandalism, Right of Way (ROW) and several others,”
“We are working on strengthening the policy to ensure those telecommunications infrastructures are well protected in the Country,” he said.
He advised the company to employ more technological efforts towards providing better services for customers and to exploit all market opportunities available to them in the country.
