Karolina Muchova secured her place in her second consecutive US Open semifinals with a 6-1, 6-4 win over number 22 seed, Beatriz Haddad Mais, Wednesday night.
The tense game lasted 1 hour, 25 minutes on the courts which was characterized by numerous stops.
The Czech, Muchova was attended to by the medics on several occasions in the second set but was unfazed by the discomfort that she felt despite her injury woes.
"A little weird match, I have to say," Muchova noted in her post match interview.
"I had a lot of problems, I wouldn't like to comment on it. I'm happy I managed it, to run to the bathroom and back. Sorry if it disturbed anyone, but I had no other choice," Muchova stressed.
Muchova eliminated Naomi Osaka's 2024 US Open campaign in the third round.
Wednesday's win is her fourth in as many meetings with the opponent and will now face either number 1 seed, Iga Swiatek, or number 6 seed, Jessica Pegula, as she bids for a second Grand Slam final following Roland Garros in 2023.
