 My administration enrolled 11,957 out-of-school children �

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday revealed that his administration facilitated the return of 11,957 out-of-school children to education via the Project Zero Programme.

He revealed this while speaking at the Children’s Day celebration at Police College, Ikeja.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, highlighted efforts to boost school attendance. 

He noted that nine new schools were established in busy and remote areas, now serving 4,588 students, including 2,310 girls and 2,278 boys.

“We have also improved many existing schools, completing over 1,500 projects that include building, renovating, and providing new furniture,” he said.

He mentioned that his administration improved security measures for public schools, such as installing fences and CCTV cameras and fostering collaboration with security agencies 

According to him, over 2,000 new teachers in various subjects were hired in May 2023, and a Digital Situation Room was established to monitor school performance. He encouraged children to dream big and assured them of the government's support.

The governor stressed the state's commitment to creating a favourable environment and opportunities for the success of children.
