The N-Power-Job Creation Cluster Lead of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), Afolabi Imoukhuede, has revealed that "5,781 beneficiaries of the scheme have been exited due to disciplinary issues".
Allnews reports that Imoukhuede made this known during his Live Facebook chat last Wednesday. He described the development as "good news".
“I have some good news for most of you. 5,781 of you have been forcefully exited out of the programme because of disciplinary issues," the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Job Creation and Youth Employment said.
"Perhaps you will begin to believe that states have authority over you. We also received reports of those who absconded and you know the terms and conditions attached to be an N-Power beneficiary.”
Of all the NSIPs, N-Power is the most popular.
The N-Power was introduced in 2016 with the aim of reducing unemployment among Nigerian graduates and non-graduates between the ages of 18 and 35.
The volunteers are paid N30,000 (approximately 83 US Dollars) monthly as stipends and given tablet computers to aid further learning.
