N-Power: Aisha Sends Message To Protesters

N-Power: Aisha Sends Message To Protesters

Rights activist and co-founder of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement, Aisha Yesufu has asked N-Power protesters to meet with other agitators to "protest on the same day", AllNews reports.

AllNews understands that N-Power beneficiaries protesting their disengagement are rumoured to have scheduled a protest for Thursday, 6th August 2020 - although, the 36-state and FCT N-Power Representatives Forum on Wednesday night asked volunteers to disregard the information.

Series of protests have happened since N-Power was birthed in 2016, AllNews can confirm.

According to the N-Power Representatives Forum, "in order to ensure the safety of volunteers across the states, no volunteer should gather anywhere for protest or rally at the moment."

On Wednesday, #RevolutionNow protests took place in some parts of Nigeria.

In June, hundreds of youth across Katsina State converged on Katsina town to protest the killings and wanton destruction by gunmen in their respective localities.

In a similar vein, Christian leaders of different denominations took to the streets of Kaduna State on Sunday to protest against the killings in the state, accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of allowing the situation to escalate.

Yesufu, a staunch critic of President Buhari, via her known Twitter handle, asserted that agitators can "come together to get result".

Meanwhile, Comrade Mustapha Kabir Soron Dinki, a political analyst and social commentator has said that the Federal Government 'failed to relate the means to end' as it concerns the N-Power scheme.

Dinki, who was an N-Power beneficiary, via his known Twitter handle on Tuesday argued that the N30, 000 monthly stipends paid to the erstwhile beneficiaries was "too small for personal saving".

Recall that Batch A beneficiaries exited the programme on June 30 after four years in the famed scheme, while their Batch B counterparts officially made their exit on July 31st - after two years.

Meanwhile, these Nigerian youths were exited from the N-Power scheme by the FG without being paid their stipends for the months of June and July. Plus, they are currently in the dark regarding their exit/transition package.
