N-Power: Approval Given For Payment Of Stipends For Batch A, B Beneficiaries, Restates Farouq

The minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria, Sadiya Farouq has restated that she has given approval for the payment of outstanding stipends for the exited N-Power Batches A and B N-Power beneficiaries, AllNews reports.

In a 13-tweet thread on the night of Sunday, August 30, 2020, on her verified handle, the Zamfara-born politician added that "details would be announced in due course even as we continue the review of Batch C applications".

Recall AllNews had reported last Thursday that Farouq said "the only outstanding approval waiting to be forwarded to Accountant-General’s Office is for the payment of July Stipends for batch B beneficiaries", hinting that Batch A beneficiaries would not get pay for July.

"The Honourable Minister stated on Monday, 24th August 2020 that approval has been given for the payment of the outstanding stipends for the exited N-Power Batches A and B beneficiaries.

"The approval for payments for up to the month of June, 2020 for the two (2) Batches has already been forwarded to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGFs) for final checks and payments. The only outstanding approval waiting to be forwarded to Accountant-General’s Office is for the payment of July Stipends for batch B beneficiaries," a statement by Nneka Ikem Anibeze, the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media had read.

Providing a fresh update on a programme the Muhammadu Buhari administration prides as one of the largest post-tertiary job schemes in Africa, Farouq stated on Sunday: "During the week, approval was given for the payment of outstanding stipends for the exited N-Power Batches A and B beneficiaries. Details would be announced in due course even as we continue the review of Batch C applications."

Meanwhile, it is unclear when the July stipends will be settled.

N-Power beneficiaries have had to contend with delayed stipends settlement since National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) duties were transferred to the office of Minister Farouq in August 2019.
