It's now over one year since N-Power Batch C application portal closed, yet there is no headway.
Nigerian authorities had said that "all successful candidates will be sent a mail and given directions on the next stage". However, applicants - despite having gone through online test and verification - continue to wait. These Nigerian youths visit the National Social Investment Management System (NASIMS) portal almost daily, hoping to be posted to their workplace soon. But nothing tangible is happening.
The N-Power is Nigeria’s work-for-cash social assistance scheme, inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 with thousands of direct former beneficiaries spread across the key industries targeted by the programme – Agriculture, Health, Education, and Tax.
The programme was domiciled under the control of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, but since the commencement of the second tenure of the Buhari administration, Ms Sadiya Umar Farouq’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has been in charge.
