Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria says the N-Power scheme is "being restructured and revamped".

"The N-Power program provides temporary income-generating opportunities 500,000 unemployed youths, while 8,612,457 primary 1-3 pupils in select public schools are receiving 1 meal per day under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP)," Farouq said.

The N-Power is a scheme set up by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari since 8 June 2016, to address the issues of youth unemployment and help increase social development.

The scheme was created as a component of National Social Investment Program, "to provide a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development and to ensure that each participant will learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work," according to Nigerian authorities.

Batch A N-Power beneficiaries were exited from the scheme in June 2020, while their Batch B counterparts - who were enrolled in 2018 - were withdrawn in July 2020.

The process of recruiting Batch C beneficiaries started in Q3 of 2020, but to date, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs saddled with N-Power duties have not announced anything concrete as regards the next stage of the recruitment process.
