N-Power Beneficiaries Releases Update On December Protest

N-Power Beneficiaries Releases Update On December Protest

N-Power beneficiaries have released update on their planned December protest after meeting. The protest update follows the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq, announcement that the Federal Government has created a new empowerment portal, NEXIT, for N-Power Batch A and Batch B.

Sadiya disclosed that her Ministry partnered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to create new empowerment funds opportunity for N-Power beneficiaries that had exited from the social investment programme in the middle of 2020. The NEXIT portal was made public on Monday, November 30, 2020.

The disclosure follows a series of criticism by N-Power beneficiaries over how the government exited them without any package, leaving thousands of the N-Power beneficiaries of Batch A and Batch unemployed. Despite the new funding initiative, the exited beneficiaries plan to carry on with the ceaseless Protest.

The group had held a meeting after Sadiya's announcement and concluded on holding the protest on December 7, 2020, as initially announced. AllNews had previously reported about the N-Power protest slated for next month, December.

It was gathered from one of the N-Power group, Npower YouthCongress, that the protest isn't organised by the Representatives of each states and FCT, but by all the exited N-Power beneficiaries within the states.
