N-Power June Stipend: Minister Farouq Mute On Why Payment Ha

 

Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development of Nigeria is mute regarding when June stipend of N-Power beneficiaries will be settled and why it has not been cleared, AllNews reports.

473, 137 N-Power graduate enrollees are paid a monthly stipend of N30, 000, meaning fourteen billion, one hundred and ninety-four thousand million, one hundred and ten thousand naira (N14, 194, 110, 000) is being spent as remuneration by the Nigerian government every month.

Making known in Abuja about four months ago when members of the House of Representatives Committee on Poverty Alleviation visited her, Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development stated that no fewer than 473,137 youths have been enrolled into the National Social Investment Programme of the federal government.

According to Farouq, the N-Power programme is aimed at driving skill development and job creation for unemployed youths between the ages of 18 and 35.

At the present time, ten days into the new month, beneficiaries are still waiting to be paid.

Since the transfer of the National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP) to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in October 2019, N-Power beneficiaries' pay has not been regular, this writer gathered from several volunteers.

The non-payment of stipends has caused many of them to come on social media (Twitter most especially) to demand their payment.
