N-Power Stipends: Alert Finally ‘Rains’ On Beneficiaries

N-Power Stipends: Alert Finally ‘Rains’ On Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s N-Power scheme have started receiving bank alert of N30, 000 for their June stipend, AllNews can confirm.

Some of the outgoing volunteers who spoke to AllNews on Wednesday afternoon confirmed the development.

Denis Ayokunle, a Kwara State Batch B N-Power beneficiary said he received bank credit alert from of N-Power payment around 5: 23 PM on Wednesday.

Another beneficiary, Njideka Kings, a Lagos beneficiary, who uses Zenith Bank told AllNews he has gotten paid June stipend.

It would be recalled that since the famed scheme was transferred to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development from the office of the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in October last year, complaints of recurrent delay in stipends payment have been registered.

AllNews noticed that federal workers usually receive their salaries between the 25th and 30th of each month.

However, N-Power graduate beneficiaries – classified as Federal Government workers too – do not have a consistent payday.

Every month, the Federal Government spends about N15 billion as stipends on hundreds of volunteers of the N-Power scheme, a component of the National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP).

Recognised as one of the largest post-tertiary employment programmes in Africa, the Muhammadu Buhari government sees the scheme as one of its major achievements.

N-Teach is the most popular of the N-SIP, which also focuses on health, agriculture, and public finance.

Due to the deficiency in the number of teaching staff in public schools, many “unemployed graduates” were deployed to schools in order to complement the efforts of the staff on ground.
