N-Power Stipends: Nigerian Govt's Money Still Held Up By Wema Bank

Customers of Wema Bank Plc who are erstwhile beneficiaries of the Federal Government's N-Power scheme are still claiming that the bank did not credit their accounts with June stipends, AllNews reports.

Recall AllNews reported about a month ago that some outgoing volunteers from across Nigeria confirmed that they have started receiving bank alert of N30, 000 (79 US Dollars) for their June stipend.

However, AllNews gathered from numerous bonafide beneficiaries of the famed scheme who use Wema Bank that to date, their bank account is yet to be credited.

Also relying on social media comments from several beneficiaries, Wema Bank users specifically are having issues with being paid.

Every month, the Federal Government (FG) spends about N15 billion as stipends on nearly 500,000 volunteers of the N-Power scheme (both Batch A and B have now been exited).

As at the time of publishing this report, neither the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria which is saddled with N-Power duties, nor Wema Bank has officially reacted to the snag.

Meanwhile, AllNews can authoritatively report that Wema Bank had issues with their banking service on the day N-Power June stipends payment commenced by the FG.

The following day, they said they are "back".
