N-Power: What You Don’t Know About Sadiya Umar Farouq, By

The N-Power Scheme...Like the wheels of  the clock as it rotate, like the flowing stream as it passes through the tunnels slowly, this an many more we will use to describe her. As the popular saying goes: education of  women is like educating the nation. Apparently from a humble background, she has indeed formed a beam that has lightened humanity-a foundational pedestal that has transcends into a a maiden federal ministry of Humanitarian affairs and Social development.

Apparently, I called her the humanitarian advocate per excellent. Sadiya Umar  Faruq is a woman I describe as a workaholic, dogged and astute administrator. This rage gem was educated at the Federal Government Girls’ College Gusau, Zamfara State and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State where she graduated with a Bsc. in Business Administration (Actuarial Science) in 1998.

She then went further to earn her Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy in 2008 and also her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2011 from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State. From 1999 – 2000, Faruk served with the Nigeria National Assembly, under the Senate Committee on Aviation and worked with the Senate Committee on Appropriation. Between  2001 – 2003, she also worked as the Operations Manager at Pinnacle Travels and Tours Ltd (a Nigerian travel agency) before joining the National Assembly Service Commission as an Administrative Officer II in 2003 where she rose to the Position of Principal Administrative Officer before leaving the commission in 2010 to pursue her political ambitions.

Currently, She is the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development.

Sadiya Umar Faruq  made tremendous strides in humanitarian activities during her tenure as federal commissioner of Refugees, migrants and internally displaced persons.

This singular effort transcends her to the position of a honourable minister of humanitarian, disaster management and social development.

A maiden ministry created by his Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR-this ministry is saddled with the responsibility of aiding victims of disaster-crisis and war victims, providing other humanitarian services and social development programs.

One outstanding landmark of this administration is the movement of social investment programmes to the ministry of humanitarian affairs and social development, since taking over this responsibility the minister and her team have worked tirelessly towards sustenance of this program.

The school feeding programmes has continuously receive its necessary support, the N-Power component of the SIP which over the years has been faced with inconsistent or daily in payment of beneficiaries has beginning to smile in now, as their payment has been consistently paid promptly. Most beneficiaries has received their long awaited devices-tablets and android devices needed for smooth undertaken of their duty.

She has   engaged   in strenuous humanitarian activities, her ministry has provided relief materials to victims in Borno state fire incident, Similar gesture was extended to Lagos state tanker explosion victims.

She  has also provided relief materials to victims of banditry in sokoto state. In the face of covid-19  pandemic, while some of her colleague are seen ones in a while, she has  been all over the country, sharing relief materials, giving palliatives to the poor of the poorest. Her  honesty in distribution of palliatives amid covid-19 pandemic   and rate of respond is second to none.

The federal ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social  development has activated prompt respond to issues of humanitarian since her creation.
