Both the National Center for Technology Management (NACETEM) and the Centre for Gender and Social Policy Studies (CGSPS) have announced that their respective organisations would reveal their research findings to the public on Thursday.
This information may be found in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja and signed by Isaac Oluyi, Public Relations Officer for NACETEM.
Oluyi stated that the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, and the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) would collaborate on the presentation.
According to him, the presentation is tagged; ”Design and Impact of an Apprenticeship Based Entrepreneurship Intervention in Nigeria.”
“Youth empowerment remains one of Nigeria’s biggest challenges despite the latent potential for socio-economic growth that the country holds.
“To this end, there have been various attempts by individuals, private and public to proffer a lasting solution to the menace.
“One of such is the National Youths Service Corps Youths Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme,” Oluyi said.
He said that the NYSC programme was arguably the largest apprenticeship-based intervention in Sub-Saharan Africa.
”After 10 years, the programme deserves a systematic assessment and evaluation to reveal the extent of effectiveness and what is to be added or changed for effectiveness,” Oluyi added.
He said it was based on this that the project, “Design and Impact of an Apprenticeship Based Intervention in Nigeria,” has been embarked upon.
“It is to rigorously evaluate the Impact of the initiative, and the first of its kind since the inception of the programme,” Oluyi, stated.
While NACETEM is an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, CGSPS is a research institute at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
