The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has sealed fifteen package water manufacturing companies in Kebbi state.
The closure was due to the poor hygiene of the companies, the agency revealed.
Muyidden Suleiman, the state Coordinator for the agency announced to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
Suleiman said the companies were also found wanting for poor storage practice.
The companies were closed following a routine visit of the agency in Koko Basse LGA. He explained that some of the companies were also found operating with expired licenses.
He said, "NAFDAC in its routine visit to packaged Water Manufacturing Factories at Koko, discovered that some of the factories have their licenses expired and yet to come for mandatory renewal, while in other places incompetent underage boys are left with packaging operations."
"Apart from being illegal, it is found that some of these boys do not have the basic knowledge of water packaging," he further stated.
He maintained that the agency gave some of the companies various administrative charges, and invited them to the state office.
