The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has said that it has begun preparations for a successful 2023 Hajj exercise.
This was disclosed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan in Abuja.
Hassan made the disclosure at the Independent Hajj Reporters’ 2022 Hajj Lecture/Award held at National Mosque Auditorium today (Thursday).
Hassan who was represented by the commission's Director of Administration, Dr Ibrahim Sodangi said the commission had begun preparations even before departure of 2022 pilgrims from the holy land.
He further explained that the commission had already met with accomodation providers to secure a conducive accommodation for the 2023 pilgrims.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Hassan said: “There is no all-encompassing formula for successful hajj operation.
"This is reason why we all must put our heads together and proffer suggestions on how to move Hajj industry to greater heights.
“Saudi Arabia that plays hosts to global Hajj contingents is constantly striving to improve Hajj through innovations and reviews of policies that allow it to adjust to current realities.
“That is why the holy city is constantly hosting technological conference, scientific explorations, conference on Hajj, paper presentations on Hajj administration and performance."
He further commended the independent Hajj reporters for organising the 2022 Hajj Lecture/ Awards with the theme,” Heroes of 2022 Hajj.
He added that the commission encourages productive gatherings that will boast knowledge and enhance smooth Hajj operation in the country.
Meanwhile the National Coordinator of the Independent Hajj Reporters, Ibrahim Muhammed appealed to the federal and state governments to appoint experienced persons as head of Hajj organizations.
