Naira, Fuel Scarcity Spark Youth Protest In Ibadan

Barely 22 days to the general elections, youths in their numbers stormed the streets of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday to protest the current state of the nation.

Nigerians have been contending with fuel, new naira notes scarcity and erratic power supply for weeks across the nation.

Dissatisfied with the situation, the youths, armed with several placards, stormed the Iwo Road area of the state on Friday morning to register their grievances.

Many residents were in agreement with the actions of the youth.

In far away Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, All Progressives Congress (APC) governors have met to persuade President Muhammadu Buhari to soft pedal on the Naira redesign policy.

The APC governors want the old and new Naira notes to co-exist.

However, President Muhammadu Buhari through Malam Garba Sheu has stated that he needs seven days before he can come out with a statement on the requests of the APC governors.
