Naira, Fuel Scarcity Protest Hits Abeokuta

Reports reaching AllNews Nigeria indicate that a protest erupted in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Tuesday.

The protest according to information was precipitated by the scarcity of fuel and the redesigned Naira notes.

Most bank customers in the town are venting their anger at their inability to withdraw old and new naira notes.

Reports also have it that the police are on ground to calm things down and prevent a possible breakdown of law and order.

AllNews Nigeria had reported on Monday that based on intelligence reports, armed policemen had cordoned off the Central Bank of Nigeria, Abeokuta Branch.

Also, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun had held a meeting with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Banker's Committee.
