Naira Scarcity Protest: Man Shot In Abeokuta Still Alive - Source

AllNews Nigeria has gathered from sources in Abeokuta that the young man who was hit by a stray bullet on Tuesday is still alive.

The young man identified as Gabriel was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Idi-Aba, Abeokuta where he is receiving and responding well to treatment.

Gabriel was on Tuesday hit by a stray bullet in the Sapon area of Abeokuta during a protest which turned into a riot.

Some residents of the ancient city were protesting against the scarcity of fuel and the unavailability of the redesigned Naira notes.

Dissatisfied customers vandalized the branch of Guaranty Trust Bank in Sapon, Abeokuta.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement on the incident disclosed that the police are investigating if the bullet was actually from one of theirs.

Meanwhile, calm was reportedly restored across Abeokuta as residents were observed going around peacefully and attending to their businesses.
