NAMA Staff  Arrested Over Drug Trafficking At Lagos Airport

 

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, arrested a staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, on Sunday over drug trafficking.

The suspect was apprehended by the Aviation security official of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, before being handed over to the NDLEA.

The arrested suspect who is said to be one of the official drivers of the airspace management agency was caught while attempting to carry the drug through airside of the airport

According to a statement from an eyewitness, the NAMA officer was not the only one arrested.

He said, “The drug, which was believed to be cocaine was in big cartons and hidden inside the NAMA vehicle by the driver and his cohorts”.

“The driver was not the only culprit arrested for the attempted courier of the illegal substance, as the AVSEC officials also apprehended some members of the drug cartel”.

Although, the suspect has confessed to the crime and similarly the test carried out on the goods also shows they were contraband.
