NAMCON To Empower Women With Over N8 Million Poultry Farms I

The National Agricultural Mechanisation Cooperative Society of Nigeria (NAMCON) has set aside over N8 million naira to empower Kano women on poultry farming.

The intervention is expected to benefit 4,574 women across all the local government areas in the state.

This was made available by the national president of NAMCON, Dr Aliyu Muhammad Waziri today (Tuesday) in Kano.

Waziri made the revelation while distributing certificates to women who underwent different trainings on poultry farming.

According to him, following the empowerment, the women will earn N150,000 every six weeks to cushion the effects of economic hardship on them.

He further explained that 6bwomen will provide a pice of land while NAMCON provides 1,000 birds, feeding and medical facilities to sustain the farm.

He added that all the women need to do is take care of the birds for six weeks and NAMCON will take the birds while paying them N150,000.

Additionally, two other poultry attendants would be paid N50,000 to assist the women for the period.
