NAOSRE SUMMIT: Top Lagos Monarch Calls For Use Of Traditional Methods To Checkmate Criminal Activities

Top Lagos monarch, HRM. Oba (Dr.) Adeoriyomi Akeem Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, Ikorodu, Lagos has called for the use of traditional methods to checkmate criminal activities.

The Lagos first class traditional ruler stated this at the maiden edition of the National Association Of Online Reporters (NAOSRE) security summit held over the weekend.

"I want to commend the efforts of the organisers of this event, however, i want to say that security is a collective responsibility, both in our own instituition and other security agencies in Nigeria."

"The Nigerian government and africa at large somehow missed some certains things, this things have to do with tradition"

"In tradition, there a lot of methods our forfathers used to secure lives and properties. Some criminal elements, who, at times, overpower security agents use traditional powers. Why can’t the government look in that direction"? the monarch asked.

"The modern theory, technology has taken the tradtional value out of our system"

He further supported his suggestion with a story of a man identified 'jesu agege', 'Olugbala Ikeja who safeguarded top places without being physically present.

He urged NAOSRE to sustain its noble task of promoting effective security communication.
