NAOWA urges action to protect boy-child against harmful infl

The Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association, NAOWA, 8 Division Chapter has called for commitment to protect the boy-child against harmful societal influences.

The Chairperson of the chapter, Florence Godwin Mutkut made the call on Thursday during an event to commemorate the International Day of the Boy Child in Sokoto State.

She emphasized the need to care for the boy-child for him to become a responsible man in society.

She said: "Recently boys' enrollment in primary and secondary schools is on the decline while dropout of same is skyrocketing."

Ikechukwu Eze, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations made this known in a statement on Thursday.

According to Eze, Mutkut further noted that there are incidents where young boys have been misguided into involving in vices such as fraud, robbery, and drug abuse among others. She added that such a trend remained inimical to a better society. 

She further urged parents and guardians to accord male children the right attention, guidance and support that will enhance their growth into responsible adults.
