NASA Leadership To Advocate For Agency Missions At ESA Counc

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy will fly to Noordwijk, Netherlands, to attend the ESA (European Space Agency) Council Meeting on Wednesday, June 15.

NASA's science and exploration partners include the European Space Agency (ESA).

Nelson and Melroy will speak to the heads of delegation from ESA's 22 member agencies, urging them to support continuing, robust financing for NASA-ESA collaboration for the next three to five years, including for Artemis, Mars Sample Return, and Earth scientific missions.

NASA and the European Space Agency will sign two agreements at the ESA Council: a strategic partnership in Earth science and a memorandum of understanding on the Lunar Pathfinder mission.

Nelson, Melroy, ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher, and ESA Director of Human and Robotic Exploration David Parker will be available for interviews with the media at 12:40 p.m. CEST, following their presentation to the ESA Council (6:40 a.m. EDT).
