Nasarawa Government Bans Charcoal Production, Trade

Charcoal

The Government of Nasarawa State has banned the production and sale of charcoal in any part of the state.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Aliyu Abdullahi Agwai announced this during the week at a meeting with the staff of Forestry and Wildlife department and the leadership of Timbers contractors in Lafia.

This, Agwai said was to protect the environment and preserve our natural resources.

He urged them to work in synergy to enforce the ban and safeguard the environment.

This is coming at a time when many Nigerians even in the urban areas are going back to firewood and charcoal for basic cooking after the prices of cooking gas spiked to all time highest prices around the country.
