Nasarawa: Karu Councillor Decries Abandoned Projects, Summons Panda Overseer

Nasarawa: Karu Councillor Decries Abandoned Projects, Summon

The Legislative Arm of Karu Local Government Council in Nasarawa State has lamented the abandonment of a multi-million naira bridge project in Tattara Kondoro community of the Area.

The House Committee Chairman on Works, Adamu Abubakar, made this known when he led other Members on oversight function to the project site.

Abubakar who represented Bagaji/Agada ward said the bridge construction started in the first quarter of this year.

He stated that passing through the bridge has become dangerous and called on the James Thomas-led council administration to mobilize contractor back to site in order to complete the project.

“How can a bridge of that size gulped up ₦35 million and still not be up to 30% completed,” the committee, queried.

In Akwap, a community in Panda Development Area, the Committee also decried what they described as “poorly executed bridge project” by the Overseer, Dr. Dakare Rabo, a former Lecturer with the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

They alleged that the bridge project started this year collapsed barely few months after completion.

Also speaking, a community leader, Danladi Yakubu, lamented that the project has become a death trap and appealed to the Overseer to come to their rescue.

Meanwhile, the Overseer of Panda Development Area, Dr. Dakare Rabo has been directed to appear before the Works Committee of Karu Legislature Arm on Tuesday November 07.
