Nasarawa: Police Played No Role In Rescue Of Kidnapped Victi

Chairman of Toto Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Aliyu Tashas says operatives of the Nigeria Police were not involved in the operation that led to the rescue of thirty (30) kidnapped victims at Sardauna Forest of the area.

Tashas made this known in a statement issued on Friday and describing the earlier report of the police as false and misleading.

He said the operation was carried out by the area's Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in collaboration with their counterparts of Miyetti Allah who invaded the forest and rescued the victims unhurt.

“It is surprising that the Nasarawa State Police Command are claiming victory of an operation they didn't participate.

“No single police officer was involved in the rescue operation,” the Chairman was quoted as saying in a statement issued by his spokesman, Yahaya Idris in Toto.

The council Chairman further said they provided the necessary support and logistics for the gallant Vigilantes to perform optimally in the Area.

He vowed to leave no stone unturned until the perpetrators are brought to book and rid the Area of criminals.

The kidnapped victims who were rescued from Sardauna Forest comprised of 20 males and 10 females.

The state's Police Command had in a statement issued by its Spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel said the operation was carried out by police operatives in collaboration with Miyetti Allah Vigilante Group.
