ASUU: Nasarawa Varsity Lauds Governor Sule For Approval Of Earned Allowance Fund

ASUU: Nasarawa Varsity Lauds Governor Sule For Approval Of E

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the approval of N200 million out of the N1 billion arrears of  Earned Allowance Academy (EAA) for the lecturers of the university.

The Chairman of the chapter, Dr Sam Emmanuel Allu gave this appreciation in a tripartite meeting with the state House of Assembly Committee on Education, university management and Ministry of Education on Tuesday in Lafia.

”If what they told us is true that His Excellency has approved N200 million for Earned Academic Allowance, kudos to the governor. And we urge the management to ensure judicious use of the fund”, he said.

Allu said a congress meeting would be organised concerning the offer by the state government to call off the ongoing strike, adding that the congress and not the executive members of the union had the power to suspend the strike.

”We will communicate what we have discussed here to our members.

"I am just a messenger,  I will present what the government has exactly offered to us as we don’t have the power to call off the strike.

”We will call for our congress meeting to discuss with our members and reach a resolution on the possibility of us suspending the strike,” he added.

He further advised students of the school to maintain peace and remain law abiding while showing respect to constituted authorities.
