Nasarawa: Youths Write Governor Sule Over Demolished Market,

Abdullahi Sule

The Ado Youths Association (AYA) in Nasarawa State has appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to urgently intervene over the planned rebuilding of the market which was recently demolished by the Karu Local Government Council administration

The Council Chairman, James Thomas had prior to the demolition announced plans for the restructuring and redesigning of the popular market with modern facilities through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement.

In an open letter signed by its Chairman, Comrade Isah Nasiru, the association alleged that contrary to the claim of the council Chairman “information emanating from the public indicates that the whole market was sold to the contractor."

"We were hoodwinked into believing that the project was a PPP arrangements.

"The group pleaded with Governor Sule to urgently intervene in order to ensure law and order as the issue is already generating tension amongst residents of the Area.

“Sir, we want you to use your good office to call the attention of the Chairman, Hon. James Thomas to verify the authenticity of the purported agreement.

“Ado youths are angry and your action will definitely douse down their grievances.

"We are appealing to the state government under the able leadership of His Excellency Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule to as a matter of urgency to take over the reconstruction and remodeling of the Ado Market, because we are not longer comfortable with the public private partnership PPP agreement.

“May Almighty God continue to guide and protect you against the machinations of your foes,” the letter issued on Saturday morning reads.
