National Honour: Kunle Afolayan Expresses Gratitude To FG

Kunle Afolayan has written a note of thanks to the Federal Government for bestowing the National Honor on him.

On Sunday, the full list of 2023 National Honours awardees made rounds on the internet.

The filmmaker was one of 50 people awarded the Officer of the Order of Nigeria (OON).

Kunle Afolayan took to Instagram to show his gratitude to the government for the distinction.

Reacting to the award, he stated he woke up to a double celebration because filming for 'Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre' the previous day and he now has a national prize.

“Hello good morning, it’s a double celebration.

"So yesterday we finally rolled the camera on Anikulapo Rise of the Spectre series and I started getting calls from people congratulating me and I didn’t know what it was until they sent me the list of newly awarded recipients of the national award.

"I want to say thank you to the Federal Government for honoring me with the OON merit award.

"I really appreciate it, I am a Nigerian and I believe so much in this country. God bless Nigeria”, he stated.
