As Türkiye eagerly awaits Sweden's fulfilment of the criteria for approval of its membership to NATO, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced that he would soon travel to Türkiye to discuss the issue.
Stoltenberg revealed that he recently had a conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and their discussion touched upon the topic of Sweden's accession to NATO.
Recognizing the significance of the matter, Stoltenberg expressed his commitment to visiting Ankara in the near future to address how the alliance can ensure the fastest possible approval of Sweden's membership.
The announcement was made by Stoltenberg on Thursday during a two-day meeting of NATO foreign ministers held in Oslo.
Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom was also present at the meeting, where he emphasized that "the time has come for Türkiye and Hungary to ratify Sweden's membership application."
Billstrom confidently stated that Sweden had fulfilled all the necessary commitments required for membership.
The fulfilment of the criteria and the ratification of Sweden's membership application will not only strengthen NATO but also enhance cooperation and security among member states.
