NBTI Committed To Achieving FG’s Industrial Development Go

The Director-General (DG), National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI),  Mohammed Jibrin, on Tuesday said that the agency was committed to achieving the Federal Government’s industrial development goals.

Jibrin, represented by Mr Akinwumi Shomefun, Director Commercials, NBTI, made the remark during the virtual graduation of 289 entrepreneurs in Abuja.

The entrepreneurs had successfully completed a three-year incubation programme, organised by the agency under its Technology Incubation Programme (TIP), in fields such as food processing, cosmetics, leather works, among others.

The D-G said the agency had leveraged on the development in ICT globally, to equip 289 entrepreneurs in the past three years through the programme.

Jibrin urged the graduates to contribute their quota for the country to achieve its goal of attaining industrial development.

“Continue with production activities that you have been trained on, and you will in turn generate revenue for the government through payment of tax.

“This will in turn create employment opportunities, and less dependence on imported goods,” he said.

The NBTI boss pledged that the agency would continue to support the new entrepreneurs in their bid to become worthy ambassadors of development.

According to Jibrin, the coronavirus, a global pandemic, is pivotal in the shift taking place in world economies, in which trade in commodities is giving way to trade in digital services and products.

“The new normal, where global operations and businesses are driven by ICT platforms, has left the traditional development path.

“I, therefore, urge individuals and organisations to adopt innovative technologies which will help our nation achieve technological independence.”

NAN reports that NBTI’s TIP programme is an institutional infrastructure, designed to nurture technology start-ups, promote indigenous potentials through adding value to technology related activities, as well as create an enabling environment.
